A Shocking Find
Ancient megalithic structures, possibly remnants of an underwater city over 6,000 years old, have been discovered off the western coast of Cuba by a team of Canadian and Cuban researchers. The site, located 650 to 700 meters below sea level on a plateau thought to be the bottom of an ancient mud volcano, features massive structures with distinct shapes and non-natural symmetrical designs.
The Structures
Pyramidal Designs
According to Paul Weinzweig, the lead offshore engineer behind the discovery, some of the structures within the complex may be up to 400 meters long and 40 meters tall. He described them as having “very distinct shapes and non-natural symmetrical designs,” with some piled on top of one another, resembling the pyramidal designs of Mayan and Aztec structures in Mexico.
Inscriptions and Symbols
Weinzweig also claimed that images taken from the videotape indicate the presence of “symbols and inscriptions” written in an unknown language, as confirmed by an anthropologist affiliated with the Cuban Academy of Sciences.
The Atlantis Connection
While Weinzweig cautioned against drawing definite conclusions at this early stage, one tantalizing theory suggests that if the legendary sunken continent of Atlantis is ever confirmed, these structures may have been submerged during the same cataclysmic event.
Further Investigation
The research team plans to return to the site with the first deep-water mobile excavator, which will allow for on-site archaeological evaluation, such as the capacity to blow sand off the stones. While the exact age of the underwater site is uncertain, Weinzweig estimates it could be around 6,000 years old based on geological evidence, predating the invention of the wheel in Sumeria and the sundial in Egypt.
As the investigation continues, the possibility of uncovering evidence of an ancient, advanced civilization in the Americas adds an exciting dimension to our understanding of human history.
